A History of Subliminal Songs and Hidden Music
Any search online will bring up a multitude of subliminal songs. i.e. songs with subliminal messages in them.
You can find anything from classics such as the Led Zeppelin stairway to heaven subliminal messages to the modern popstarts such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Justin Timberlake using them.
There is debate whether musicians intentionally put subliminal messages in their music or whether it is purely a coincidence. Most musicians straight out deny using them. However when you watch some of these music videos or listen to the songs in reverse there are some pretty clear subliminal messages which can be heard. Messages which are just clear to be just a coincidence.
The craze of subliminal messages in songs started in 1967 when Led Zeppelins released “Stairway to Heaven”. people analysed the video and claimed there were hidden satanic messages where the line starts “so there’s a bushell in your hedgerow”. “Here’s to my Sweet Satan” was the message revealed when playing the track backwards. This caused public outcry, and condemnation from the church – of course Led Zep denied everything.
But their denial didn’t matter, a new phenomenon was born: subliminal backmasking in songs!
People started hunting for subliminal messages, and probably even more artists started including them intentionally. Subliminals have since been found in:
Britney Spears – telling people “sleep with me I’m not too young” in her first single.
Nirvana – saying “I hate you” in Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Tupac – claiming to be still alive.
Queen – promoting the use of Marijuana.
Lady Gaga – saying “have sex” in her “just dance” – her very first debut single.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, musicians have been doing this for nearly 40 years! There are countless examples from across all genres, and practically all famous popstars! To watch all these videos and more visit our subliminal video blog and view the entire subliminal songs collection.
