Music On The Internet: What Are The Effects To The Music Industry

Experts often talk negatively about music on the Internet. They have the idea that music on the Internet is pulling down the music record sales. This is an overstatement because music on the Internet is actually during the reverse. It results to more positive ways than you could think of.

First of all, you have to realize that not all music on the Internet is free music downloads traded by pirates. Quite a bit of Internet music is actually legally downloaded and shared. One of the great things about online music is that it allows smaller independent bands to really court fans in a way they couldn’t before. They can put their music on websites, bit torrent search clients, or any other places they want. That way, fans can listen to them and decide if they liked them. As small bands make more money from shows than from records, this is a godsend to local independent music groups and their fans.

And then of course, there’s Internet radio. Listening to the radio online is a great experience. For most fans of music, there will be at most one or two stations they like around town. With Internet radio however, you can listen to basically anything you like. You can find bluegrass music on the Internet, rock country, tango, polka  you name it you’ve got it. And this Internet radio isn’t just a boon to the consumers, it’s a boon to the artists as well.

You see, online Internet radio exposes fans to bands they never have had a chance to hear before. You might check out an Internet music station because they play a particular band you like, only to hear three other songs from three other bands that are as good or better in your opinion. Obscure bands are on equal footing with more mainstream corporate ones. Clear Channel and the other big media giants don’t control music on the Internet the consumer does. You listen to what you want when you want. If you like it, you can go see shows or play the podcasts for your friends. Bands with virtually no publicity network get people all over the world listening to them. You can’t get that attention by flyering!

Dance Your Way Into Napster for Music, Music and More Music

The Napster people had quite a rocky start as a place where music lovers could find each other and, using Napster’s amazing technology, trade their music files over the Internet, even before the world wide web had come along.  No money was ever exchanged.  In a way, it was just like selling illegal bootleg CDs except that nobody made any income from it.  In fact it was the free part of the model that perturbed the recording artists and record labels.  Eventually Napster settled with the recording industry, with a huge financial settlement at Napster’s expense.  They learned their lesson well enough to completely change their business model.

Napster, the same business that started as just a vehicle for peer-to-peer music exchanges, has transformed itself into the holder of the largest music catalog on the entire Internet–over seven million titles and still growing.  While it is not free, as it was in the wild days of the early Internet, it is still an amazing bargain.  They offer various plans, but the best all around deal is a three month membership, which can be renewed if you still haven’t satisfied your music thirst.  Three months will give you a good sense of what the service has to offer, and I strongly suspect that you’ll decide to renew.  A lot of people have maintained a membership for years.

For a remarkably low price, you receive five download credits and special bonus download credits as a subscription bonus.  You also get unlimited streaming audio, which, believe me is great!  You can listen to entire albums or even the entire catalog of their various artists of your favorites.  They have over a thousand pre-made mix lists, and those are interactive.  There are streaming radio stations, too.

The downloads you choose can be played on any MP3 compatible device, including a number of lesser know brands plus the extremely popular Ipod and Zune players.  A lot of newer cell phones have built in MP3 players and sufficient memory to hold a number of your favorite selections, as well.

You have unrestricted rights to these recordings, so you can move them around to different devices that you own.  You can even use your software to create your own compact disc.

Any musical genre you can think of is well represented.  I’m sure you’ll find your favorite on the list, unless you are like me and listen to music from a wide variety of genres.  The list is huge, but a few of the genres are jazz, pop, rock, Christian, children, comedy, country and the list goes on….

All of this is just $15 for the three months of delightful musical saturation at Napster.com.  Face it, that’s cheaper than a fast food lunch for three.

iPod Music Downloads – Beware of Scam Websites

Since the Ipod hit the market, people started immediately downloading Ipod music from the internet for free. Free music downloads for iPod are so popular these days. Sadly, most people downloaded the music from their iPod from illegal websites. Please be aware that downloading illegal Ipod music is considered piracy. If you get caught downloading from these types of websites, you will not only experience huge fines, but there is also a great chance that you will end up in jail.

If you ask me, downloading illegal songs or movies is not worth the risk of getting caught and ending up in jail.   The government is getting better and better each day on tracking down people who are downloading music for their iPod from illegal websites.

There are several methods to get free music into your iPod the legal way. One popular method is ripping audio CDs. If you have no idea what ripping means: ripping means converting audio files to MP3. For this, you will need a ripping software program that is readily available for download in the internet. Most ripping software is free and you can find it by starting a search on Google or Yahoo.

After ripping the audio CD files to MP3 format, the MP3 music data will be automatically stored in your computer’s hard drive. You are almost done, the last step is connecting the Ipod to your PC via the USB cable and transfer the files to your Ipod.

It is also a good idea to share Ipod music with your friends. It’s a real fun activity you can do with your friends. The best thing about it is that it is absolutely legal.

You will also see some legal ipod download websites that will be able to let you download iPod music for free. The bad news is that these sites are not completely free. You will have to submit payment so you can access all of the files and download them. You need to be aware that there is a huge difference between pay per download and onetime membership fee Ipod download sites. On pay per download Ipod download sites you will have to pay for every song, movie, or game you download. You should note that if it is a membership site you will in most cases only have to pay a onetime membership fee and after that you may download as many files as you can handle for free.

A word of advice: It is often very hard to find reputable and legal free iPod music download websites. If you finally find an Ipod download site that fits your needs, stick to it.

You should note that all illegal download sites will not tell you that they are illegal, of course not. To avoid breaking the law, you should keep these tips in mind. The most common sign of an illegal music download website is the appearance of a lot of pop up advertising.

As you can see, there are several options to get Ipod music for free. It is just a matter of choosing the method that works for you the best. If you take these tips in mind you can rest assured that your Ipod downloads are safe and legal.

Nowadays the internet is the main source for downloading all kind of files such as music, movies, and games. Thus, when people want music, they download it instead of walking into a store and buying CDs.This is why free mp4 downloads downloads are getting so popular. Many different websites have sprung up offering users the ability to invest in music files of all types, because of this shift in music buying behavior. However useful this may be at first, there are many dangers involved when a person decides to veer away from membership MP4 websites and instead uses torrent or free download websites.

The worst thing about free mp4 download sites is that they are not secure. When using such sites you run the risk of infecting your computer with spyware or trojans. A huge threat are malware, trojans, worms, viruses, and spyware. Your privacy is in danger when using such free mp4 download sites. What Makes A Good MP3 Download Site and How to SelectOne

To begin with, a music download signifies the transmitting of a certain music file from an Internet-connected PC or a website to a client’s local PC. Unrestricted music downloads may be got from Internet-based music stores such as iTunes for iPod, HMV, Wal-Mart and others.

The subsequent stage of music downloading was the Internet-based music store, where songs got to be downloaded for a fee.

The creation of iPods, Napster, iTunes and MP3 players, as well as soaring speedy Internet connections, and CD burners have all come together to create a world that is ready for digital downloading of music. File sharing is a technique of making files accessible for other users to download over the World Wide Web and smaller networks; this is likely to be made in any number of ways, in commercial networks it is made via file servers, but on the wider World Wide Web it more typically follows the peer-to-peer (P2P) replica, in which the files are kept on and supplied by PCs of the users..

Websites that are all over the World Wide Web provide music downloads of especially unique or hard-to-find songs, and PC loving music fans are notorious for expending hours browsing through the tons and tons of downloadable material. Read more about the iPhone (and how they don’t mix with fizzy drinks!) at the Phone Directory News Blog.

Music downloads recognized by the law characteristically encompass the buying of a musical track or album obtainable for downloading online.

More and more, internet sites that give streaming media or media that are presented in-browser, such as YouTube, and which place limits on the capability of clients to store these services on their PCs after downloading, say that downloading is not allowed.

An ever more fashionable method to locate and download music on the Internet is to check out the many legal online music services out there.

In the end, be warned that there are a lot of folks who are benefiting from naive visitors to their music download websites, that they give you a free of charge mp3 download, although in exchange they place a gigantic bug in your PC; so make sure you get a sophisticated download software to steer clear of such avoidable dilemma.

Filesharing and free downloads: are they really so bad?

It’s one of the most controversial topics of the moment and it’s making headlines almost every day. It seems that pretty much everyone, whoever they may be and whether they really understand the concept of downloading music or not, has an opinion to give on the matter. Even amongst musicians opinions are divided between those who think it will be the death of the music industry and those who see significant benefit in their music being readily available to a much wider audience of potential fans than they could otherwise have hoped to reach.

The debate has been going on for years and doesn’t look like ending any time soon. Remember when the original download site Napster was shut down after a successful copyright lawsuit by Metallica? Everyone thought that was the end of it – it seemed the age of music for free was over, never to return. But then came Limewire, the Pirate Bay and countless other file sharing sites, with new systems and bigger-than-ever databases, never failing to stay one step ahead.

Metallica certainly had a point, and they are far from the only musicians to have spoken out against free downloads and the impact it has on the big label music industry. With the price of CDs going up and up all the time it’s not so surprising that people are turning to downloads, but not everyone realizes the effect this could have on the music we all love. However there are those who believe that the music industry as we know it has had its day and that the future of music lies with the people recording their own tracks with DJ software on their home computers and publicizing the music themselves online. This is only possible because the music is available online for free, and these are the genuine music lovers who are in it for the music not the money.

The latest in a long line of musicians to voice his opinions is Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody. Although his band are hugely successful and far from being small and unsigned, he believes that being able to get music for free is just the modern way and that the punishments given to people caught filesharing are ‘way over the top’ and do not fit the crime. He was speaking specifically about the recent conviction of the four founding members of The Pirate Bay, who have each been sentenced to a year in jail as well as having to pay $3.48 million in damages to several large entertainment companies. The group are launching an appeal as although they understand these companies could well be out of pocket, there was no way to know how much by, and it was discovered that the judge conveniently happened to be a member of the Swedish Copyright Association with strong personal views on the case.

There is no sign of an end to the constant debate on filesharing and certainly no sign of an agreement being made. There is no question that it is damaging to the record label giants’ and huge stadium rock bands’ incomes, but at the same time it enables the little guys at home recording their tracks with an Akai home studio and set of headphones to get an equal chance of being heard. Maybe there is no right or wrong answer.

Tips for Downloading Music from the Internet

One of the best things about the Internet is that you can now download music. often times for free, and add it to your MP3 player in just seconds! There are some good free sites, but be careful when downloading from a free site, the quality is not always great. And sometimes those “free” sites include spyware or malware with your download. For free downloads, BeeMP3 is a good site.com for free downloads.  The quality is good.

if you want the quality and peace of mind, you might want to pay for music downloads. Amazon has a terrific selection and the price is not too bad, $0.79 to $0.99 per song.

(I am only talking about MP3 downloads and Windows-based products and information. I am not familiar with Apple products, sorry to all you Apple fans.)!)

There are other free sites out there that I have used to download music, but they are not quite legitimate, and one of the sites I like is always getting into legal trouble with their government for copyright issues  (the site is based somewhere in Europe).  So, I am a bit leery of recommending or linking to that site, or any other sites that are questionable.

And my recommendation for the best MP3 player on the market today is the Zune from Microsoft. There are plenty of MP3 products on the marketplace today, and there are products that are cheaper than the Zune, but they just do not have the capacity nor the ease of use that the Zune offers. And this is especially helpful for music fans who want to build a huge musical library for your computer and your MP3 player. My 80 GB Zune is maxed out, and I’ve had to remove some files to add more songs. I’m already eyeing the 120 GB for my next purchase.

And if you are a bit confused with all the technical jargon, I’ve written an e-book about how to create a digital music library on your computer and on your MP3 player.  This e-book makes it really easy to collect a state-of-the-art digital music library that is ultimately inexpensive, completely portable, and will occupy very little space in your home.

Happy music downloading, enjoy!
