Flight 666- the Iron Maiden film premier

The 20th of April saw the London premier of Rockumentary ‘Iron Maiden:Flight 666′, filmed by Samm Dunn of ‘metal: a headbanger’s journey’ fame. The band members will be at the showing themselves, with a guest appearance from Maiden’s zombie mascot Eddie.

The film is a behind the scenes look the at the first leg of Iron Maiden’s Somewhere back in time tour from last year, where the band flew to abroad venues on their own special jet ‘Ed force one’, as piloted by Maiden’s own pilot, Bruce Dickinson. The Somewhere back in time tour saw the band play songs from Powerslave up to the Seven son of a seventh son album, featuring the classic 1984 Powerslave set, which has been hailed by one of the greatest tours ever. That tour lasted for a good few years, which nearly sent the band mad, but it was worth it -i think so anyway.

Flight 666 has already won the 24 beats per second award at the South by South West festival in Texas for best musical documentary. The movie will also be shown in 42 different countries at Odeon cinemas for one night only, giving Maiden fans who couldnt make the premier a chance to see the movie. Any maiden fan unlucky enough to miss out on both screenings need not worry -the film will be available on Blue Ray and DVD from may 25th. Which admittedly, for anyone missing the show, may seem like a long time. Also being released is the soundtrack of the movie featuring the live tracks from concert footage of the gigs Iron Maiden played during the tour, on cd and picture disc vinyl from the same date.

The film will be shown on Monday April 20th at the Odeon Kensington cinema from 7pm. Need a venue for your London events or events? Look no further.
