More home recording and writing advice: The first part of this is to pick your favorite songwriter. The point of this is to give you some source material from which to work from, you really need a song book of chords. Now for the fun part, you get to spend an hour or so just playing through the best music of all time, singing and having great time.
So just to recap, you need pick music you consider to be legendary then spend an hour playing through it and thinking about lyrics and chords that make your heart flutter. You could use anyone that you’re into but for me the Beatles work because their music is so varied and full of color.
Sometimes I also like to get my pen out and pretend I’m writing these tracks for the first time. (This conditions your brain to write amazing music.)
So now after all the prep its time to get writing, be brave and just get going, you’ll be happy with the results. This is when the magic happens because all of a sudden you’ll be like a songwriting master and ideas will start to burst from your mind like a young Ludwig Van. This really works like a charm, and if you have a block or just want to get some good songs written fast then this is going to be a lifesaver.
Don’t worry I did not just make this up out of my head, any top writer will tell you that before you start writing you’ve got to get yourself into a winning mindset by copying out some of your best work parrot fashion.
Try this method once and I’m sure you’ll use it time and again.
